PRP and Stem Cell Injections for Hamstring Sprains & Tears offered in Estero, Florida.

Do you feel a sudden sharp pain in the back of your thigh while running, sprinting, or even bending forward?

Hamstring injuries are among the most common sports-related injuries and can range from mild sprains to severe tears that sideline patients for months.

The hamstrings are a group of three muscles that run along the back of the thigh, connecting the hip to the knee. These muscles are critical for running, jumping, and stabilizing the pelvis. When overstretched or overloaded, they can strain or tear — leading to significant pain, weakness, and functional limitations.

At Integrative Rehab Medicine, we specialize in advanced non-surgical and regenerative therapies that help patients recover faster.

Resolve Hip Pain and Regain Your Function

Common Symptoms of Hamstring Sprains and Hamstring Tears

  • Sudden, sharp pain in the back of the thigh during activity
  • Bruising and swelling along the hamstring
  • Muscle weakness or difficulty bearing weight
  • Stiffness and limited flexibility in the leg
  • A “popping” sensation at the time of injury (common with severe tears)

Causes of Hamstring Sprains & Tears

Hamstring injuries often occur during sports or activities requiring explosive acceleration, sprinting, or sudden directional changes. Overstretching during activities like yoga or gymnastics may also cause tears. Poor flexibility, inadequate warm-up, muscle imbalances (weak glutes, tight hip flexors), and fatigue are all contributing risk factors.

In more severe cases, a large tear or even avulsion (where the tendon pulls away from the bone) can occur, requiring immediate treatment. Without proper care, hamstring injuries often recur and may leave behind chronic pain, scar tissue, and weakness.

Accurate Diagnosis is Key

At Integrative Rehab Medicine, we use a comprehensive diagnostic approach to identify the extent of tendon injury, tendonitis, and biomechanical dysfunction. This includes:

  • Comprehensive physical examination assessing hip movement and strength
  • MRI to identify the extent of hamstring tearing and to evaluate for other injuries in the hip
  • Musculoskeletal ultrasound for real-time visualization of tendons and bursae

This allows us to tailor a comprehensive regenerative treatment plan specific to your injury and functional goals.

Do You Want to Resolve Hip Pain and Restore Function?

Regenerative Treatment Options

We specialize in non-surgical regenerative orthopedic solutions designed to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and restore joint health.

  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy –Highly concentrated growth factors are injected directly into the injured hamstring most commonly at its insertion in the ischial tuberosity to stimulating. We have seen great success with PRP even in severe cases — including one patient with a 90% thickness tear who regained function after just two rounds of PRP treatments.
  • Stem Cell Therapy (Bone Marrow Derived)Provides regenerative cells capable of supporting healing in large or complex tears, helping restore strength and prevent re-injury.
  • Prolotherapy –Strengthens supporting structures around the hamstring to enhance long-term stability and reduce recurrence risk.
  • For those patients who have full thickness retracted tears or an avulsion injury regenerative medicine may not be enough, and surgery may be warranted.

I had a 3 year old major herniation in my L4-L5 and medium herniation in my L5-S1 discs. I tried everything - physio, chiro, decompression, but it seemed like everyone just wanted me to keep coming back and I constantly kept getting reinjured and honestly a bit fatigued. I was finally contemplating surgery because I was not able to carry out daily life. I finally found Dr. Sebastian on youtube and reached out. He was great in the initial virtual consult. Then I flew in from Canada and went for an ozone injection in both discs. That helped. A few months later I went in for discseel with exosomes, and I feel like a new person. Each time they also included the PRP along the facet joints which I am sure will have their own benefits. I stayed on top of my rehab and workouts, especially walking everyday. I am still not back to 100% but being back to 80% is still amazing considering I was having a hard time even walking, sitting, standing, or picking up my kids. Now I am back at the gym and slowly rebuilding my pre-injury strength. There are small flare ups but they go away in a day or two, and I am learning to avoid certain workouts and movements. Dr. Sebastian and his team including Michelle, Kristine, Amanda, Floyd have been fantastic to work with. They answered all my questions to my satisfaction, and provided the best advice I received. I also found their team had practical knowledge around back mechanics and provided me with resources the doctors I saw before were not even aware of. This was money well spent, and I would recommend it to anyone with annular tears and herniations.

I fractured a vertebrae in my neck while in the Army back in 1990 and after working as an Ironworker by trade, my neck and back were both shot. I’ve done all the things: physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, massage, injections and even had back surgery. After finding Dr. Klisiewicz, and having the Discseel procedure done on both my neck (4.7.26) and my back (5.13.26) I couldn’t be more pleased. The experience has been nothing short of PERFECT! Veterans have priority scheduling and they even have a veteran advocate/representative (Jason K) right there in their office to help facilitate the VA process. This made the process of getting VA approval quick and almost too easy. This procedure could be life changing for so many veterans who are suffering in pain. I encourage you to not wait and reach out today!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Care for Veterans – Life-Changing Results As a combat-wounded Iraq War veteran who served 29 years in the United States military, I have experienced many healthcare systems throughout my career and since my retirement. Without hesitation, I can say that Integrative Rehab Medicine provides the finest VA-covered medical care I have received in the last nine years. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Sebastian Klisiewicz, his exceptional medical team, and Jason "JK" Kinnard, Chief Veteran Officer and Veteran Care Navigator, for their unwavering dedication to veterans and their families. Because of wounds and injuries sustained during my service in Iraq, I have suffered from multiple herniated discs in my spine as well as numerous joint-related conditions. Over the years, I underwent several surgeries, yet I continued to live with chronic pain that significantly affected my quality of life, sleep, mobility, and daily activities. From my very first interaction with Integrative Rehab Medicine, I knew I was in the hands of professionals who genuinely care about veterans. Dr. Klisiewicz took the time to thoroughly evaluate my conditions, explain treatment options, and develop a comprehensive plan focused on long-term improvement rather than temporary relief. After only two procedures—and while still in the recovery process before additional recommended treatments—I can already feel a remarkable difference. My pain levels have decreased significantly, my mobility is improving, and for the first time in years I am sleeping better and experiencing real hope for continued recovery. What truly sets this organization apart is not only their medical expertise but also their commitment to guiding veterans through the VA process. Jason "JK" Kinnard has been absolutely outstanding in helping navigate the system, ensuring that veterans receive the care they deserve with professionalism, compassion, and efficiency. His dedication to serving fellow veterans is extraordinary. Dr. Sebastian Klisiewicz and his entire team exemplify excellence in patient care. They listen, they care, and they deliver results. Their professionalism, compassion, knowledge, and commitment to improving veterans' lives are second to none. For any veteran seeking effective treatment for chronic pain, spinal injuries, joint issues, or rehabilitation services, I strongly recommend Integrative Rehab Medicine. They have helped me achieve progress that I had not experienced despite years of treatment elsewhere. Thank you, Dr. Klisiewicz, Jason "JK" Kinnard, and the entire Integrative Rehab Medicine team for your outstanding service to our veteran community. You are making a real difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed for our nation. I had a lower back procedure performed with Interactive Rehab Medicine through the VA. The procedure "Discseel was a success but the VA side trying to get approved was a bumpy road and it's not the VA per say but the wrong people are in the process for approval and that needs to be fixed. I am healing well and the Staff from Interactive Rehab Medicine were very professional and I would recommend this procedure to any veteran with lower back issues in every aspect of outpatient and quick recovery. I still have 1 more month to go to completely heal so we will see. This procedure has made a difference in my life. Thank you Jason Kinnard, Dr. Sebastian Klisiewicz and all the Interactive Rehab Staff for a great job. Keep up the good work and I will be spreading the word. Are there any T-Shirts?

Excellent services and staff unlike no other. Im now pain free from my back with no issues. Now would like to address my neck stiffness with PRP treatment injections when fully recovered from my March 19 postop neck revision surgery. Im confident that Dr. Klisiewicz will do a great job just like he did with my ailing back with the discseel procedure. See you soon Doc! 😊

I have found Dr. Klisiewicz to be a thoughtful, attentive, accurate, and highly skilled diagnostician/clinician. He performed a spinal disc procedure for me ("Discseel") which resulted in a remarkable degree of improvement in longstanding low back pain with minimal invasiveness, no complications, and a quick recovery. I completely trust his judgement, advice, and procedural capability. My experiences with he and his staff have been reliably positive. I recommend him highly and without reservation.

I had a great experience with Dr. Sebastian and the DISCSEEL procedure. From the consultation through follow-up care, he took the time to explain everything thoroughly and answer all of my questions. His professionalism, expertise, and genuine concern for his patients gave me confidence throughout the process. I also want to thank his staff for their outstanding care and support. I highly recommend Dr. Sebastian to anyone considering the DISCSEEL procedure.

I went to Dr. Sebastian after having 1 year of primarily right sided back pain with mild radiation into my right calf. I wanted to avoid taking medication and surgery. I was active and working out at the gym, but limited in bending, lifting, and running. Dr. Sebastian felt confident my issue was related to an L5-S1 Disc issue and that the Discseel procedure would get me back to the activities that caused pain and eliminate my leg pain. I had my procedure on June 9, 2025 and every day of my life has been a nightmare ever since. The procedure has caused intense constant nerve pain and burning into both buttocks, thighs, and calves. It caused worse back pain. Simple daily tasks are challenging. Currently, 1 year later I am severely restricted from bending at all or I get increased burning down my legs. I cannot sit or lift. I cannot walk or stand more than 10 minutes. I have never been able to return to the gym. I have a physical job and I have only been able to work about half of the hours I had before. I am looking at quitting altogether because the hours I do work are excuciating. After unloading my bank account for this procedure, the financial effects of not being able to work are daunting. The physical and mental effects have been devastating. The symptoms have gradually worsened instead of improving and I now have neuropathy pain in my feet. I have had injections, medication, and a consult with a neurosurgeon since then. Discseel promised to keep me from these things, but instead has fast forwarded me toward them. Looking back, I think they told me about anything to convince me to do the procedure. When I wasn't getting the expected outcomes, they revealed that I had been mislead on many things. Prior to the procedure, he told me his patients do great with the procedure. Afterwards, he told me story after story of patients who had had failed procedures. Prior to the procedure, I was told that I had a greater than the average 85% success rate because I was young and active. Afterwards, Dr. Sebastian admitted that its actually been more of his younger more mobile patients who have had failed procedures. Prior to the procedure, I was told the fibrin was extremely strong and to follow the guidelines, but to not be overly stressed about my movements. Afterwards, Dr. Sebastian said that he has had patients feel a pop in their back and all their symptoms return just from bending over one time, coughing, or sitting on a plane flight. An MRI post procedure shows I have worse annular tearing and nerve compression at the segment treated than prior. Aside from something going wrong during the procedure itself, which I am told didnt, I was never warned in any capacity that Discseel could worsen nerve pain and cause worse annular tears and everyone needs to know how risky it is. Worst decision of my life having this done and I would give anything to be at the level of pain I was before I had it. To add insult to injury, after paying thousands of dollars for the procedure they billed my insurance for the follow ups and I was not aware of that. I got a letter saying they would send me to collections over $100 I didnt know I had missed paying. They are making bank off this and the results are not as good as they make you think. DON'T DO IT
